Attic pediment

A pediment is the completion of the facade of a house, limited by two slopes of the roof on the sides and a cornice at the base. The pediment’s shape depends on the roof – triangular, pentagonal, semicircular, or arched.

It is important to take into account also the material of the pediment. Facades of log homes are always completed with logs. Timber frame houses, however, allow other alternatives. It can be clapboard, faux logs, overlapping planed edged boards, and shingles. Surprisingly attractive are glazed pediments – glazed attics are always well illuminated, and windows suggest a panoramic view of the surroundings.

Pediment is an important element of a house which is there for everyone to see. That is why it is important to choose the right material for the pediment and its cladding, and ensure that it combines well with the roof. A well-designed and beautifully decorated pediment gives the home a unique and exclusive appearance.
